I Am Who I Am

William has entered this fourth year as an investor relations professional at the D. E. Shaw group, primarily focusing on helping manage the firm’s relationships with investment consultants. He also serves on the Steering Committee for “Black@DESCO”, the firm’s affinity group focused on supporting the personal and professional development of Black professionals.

Civically, William serves on the Board for Barbershop Books, an award-winning literacy organization founded by Alvin Irby, a former Black male kindergarten teacher, to inspire Black boys and other vulnerable children to read for fun.

Additionally, William has deep roots in political engagement and campaign management. He ran his first campaign at 20 years old, which resulted in the election of SC native and chef,  Rep. JA Moore. William has also been featured on CNN, PBS, and various other media outlets.

William is also a published author in an academic medical journal and has contributed to various blogs and articles over the years. He’s excited about the upcoming launch of his own site, (a) political blog.
